Data-Based Decision Making – 10.19.2021

As a self-described data geek, Joan was excited to present to the AFP NM Chapter on data-driven fundraising. This interactive session was designed to help small to medium development shops understand how they can use data to build their individual giving programs.

We will discuss using data that is already existing in an organization, data we need to start tracking, and data that we can secure from outside sources. We will specifically look at data management, analytics, and strategies.

This session focused on the following areas:

  • Data Management: Which databases options are best for our organizations and how do we decide?
  • Data Analytics: What reports should we be running, what data points matter, what conclusions can we draw and how can we use donor research to learn more about our prospects?
  • Data Strategies: How can we use data in our planning? How can we segment our list and target our messages – and asks – for the most appropriate audience?
